Editor’s Note: The article below was written by Dr. Becky Sundin Mitchell, candidate for Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction. We’re publishing it here to give readers some insight into her campaign.
Hello Becky4Idaho Community!
This campaign has always been about listening—and this fall, I’m doing a lot of it in two very different places: back in the classroom and out on the road across Idaho.
Going back to teaching middle school science has been a powerful reminder of why I entered this race for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Every day, I see the incredible things our students can accomplish when they have great teachers, strong schools, and communities that believe in them. I also see firsthand the challenges educators and families are navigating.
And when the final bell rings, the campaign keeps going.
We’re continuing our goal of visiting all 44 Idaho counties, attending community events, and meeting parents, educators, students, school leaders, and Idahoans who are passionate about the future of public education. From our smallest rural communities to our growing cities, I want Idahoans to know that their experiences and their schools matter.
Your support is making a difference, too—and not just on the campaign trail.
In August, we asked our supporters to help us give back to the schools at the heart of this campaign. Your donations helped put school supplies directly into the hands of Idaho public school students and helped teachers create more hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in their classrooms. That’s what investing in public education looks like: giving teachers the tools to bring learning to life and making sure students have what they need to participate fully.
As we enter the final stretch of this campaign, your donations also help us keep traveling across Idaho, reaching voters, attending events, printing materials, and getting our message about strong public schools into communities across the state. Every contribution—large or small—helps us keep showing up. You can contribute at our Act Blue site below or mail checks to PO Box 623 Caldwell, ID 83606.
And showing up matters now more than ever.
The General Election is Tuesday, November 3rd, and these final weeks are about turning conversations into participation. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Make your voting plan. Help someone else make theirs. And remind the people in your life that decisions about public education affect every Idaho community.
I may be back in the classroom, but I’m not slowing down. There are still counties to visit, events to attend, people to meet, stories to hear, and conversations to have about the future of Idaho’s public schools. Thank you for being part of Becky4Idaho, for supporting this campaign, and most importantly, for believing in Idaho’s students, educators, families, and public schools.
See you on the road, in the classroom, and at the polls,
Dr. Becky Sundin Mitchell
